““How often do we tell our own life story? How often do we adjust, embellish, make sly cuts? And the longer life goes on, the fewer are those around to challenge our account, to remind us that our life is not our life, merely the story we have told about our life. Told to others, but—mainly—to ourselves.
― Julian Barnes, The Sense of an Ending

Watched the film last night! Positively inspired by this BBC Films production, typically English/London context in the 1960s, story of a sixty-year old man (Jim Broadbent) reliving his past, at grammar school and university, re-finding a lost love (Charlotte Rampling) but with an extremely selective memory. An enigma with an answer given at the end – but I’m not sure I completely understood. Anyone seen the film and like to share ?
