The whole band was tripping during this set. They took acid thinking they had plenty of time to come down. Right after they took it, a producer told them there was a hiccup and they had to perform now or not go at all. They weren’t very well known at the time so this was a big break for them so they went. Santana said while he was playing his guitar tuned into a giant snake. He said he played it so hard because he was trying to keep it from slithering away. He had to keep telling himself it was a guitar and he needed to play slower. Nevertheless, Woodstock caused them to go mainstream and the rest is history.
